Rifts gathering strength

So So So! something just got my attention, upon a mind numbing Rift youtube session i stumbled upon a new piece of information that to myself is new...and it intrested me.Below you can see how a Rift looks when it is un-opened. Now i learned from the video that the rifts when in that form are actually gaining strength meaning more mobs are gathering inside and that it will be within players best intrests to open the rifts ( tears is the name when un-opened)themselves rather than have the Rifts burst open and have alot more strength and power than if you prematurley release the tear allowing a Rift to come through. This to me sounds really intresting and a nice twist to the whole gameplay element.

Facebook for Gamers ?

Hey,

This post is not so much a post with regards to Rift but just to help a cause which i found to be very helpful and good for gamers and guilds alike. The source of what im talking about is http://www.guildbook.net, it sounds like facebook, it even looks like facebook and has a chat box just like facebook.

What differs guildbook from facebook you ask ? well the major diffrence is that guildbook is for gamers and guilds to hook up and connect with each other infact just oticed it would be easier for me to copy and paste this section!

Guildbook.net was created to give gamers a social network that allows them to keep their gaming lives separate from their private lives, while at the same time giving them a means to maintain contact with other players and game-related groups over time within the now vast and ever expanding gaming community.

There are many reasons gamers prefer to, and should, maintain their anonymity. This is something that has been a key component of gaming and other online communities since the dawn of the internet, and is in the true spirit of role playing.

Popular social networks and even online games (i.e. WoW's RealID) are ever encroaching on our private lives, constantly seeking new ways to diminish our privacy, and ultimately trying to find out who and where we are at all times. Guildbook.net is a place where your gaming identity can remain separate from your private life, and where you can also keep in touch with gaming friends old and new as you progress through your gaming career. While we do offer an option to connect your character to Facebook, and an option to share your birth date with the community, this will always be optional and never encouraged.

Please sign up and invite your online friends and guild mates to join us as well. We hope you can stay connected with gaming friends old and new and help us grow this great new community.

Cheers,

The Guildbook.net Support Team

There you go just thought i would get it out there so us gamers have more ways to interact and connect! gogo gamers gogo! (inspector gadget music in background )

Logo and Trions handling of the game thus far ?

Hey,

Ok so recently Trion introduced some new logo's for Rift which in fairness do look nice although they dont really go with the websites colour scheme, but i can live with that.Below is whats been labelled as the fire logo.

when looking at the logo i dont really think fire, infact i dont really think anything, i just think hmm a logo...nice, surely a logo should give some indication of the games direction in some way or another.Maybe a Rift could be implemented in with the logo or some of the games characters, classes or races just to add more to the whole feel and make the logo and game instantly recognisable.Im not trying to down the logo its just personally from videos and everything this game is certainly shaping up well, i just felt slighlty underwhelmed by the logo when i saw it appear on the website.

Now on to the topic of the guys at Trion, they are handling this game very very well they are outing the game enough to keep it known but not to the extent that its got every one jumping on the Rift wagon to the point there is so much hype that all there can be is dissapointment. The websites looking good, the previews are looking great, the gameplay and engine look solid and the class advacment looks deep and involving.Launching with 11 instances (excluding raids there)infact scrap that 22 instances in theory as once youve done them in the leveling process you can go back at higher level and the mobs will scale up,the loot will scale up as will the difficulty.Sounds like having longevity should not be a problem for Rift!, providing it works out that is.There are even instanced PvP arena's in there aswell ( although not much info about those yet ), i believe there called battlefronts or so ?, either way Trion is handling this game well and that is a good sign the hands on articles are sounding good infact i even read the aplpha stages are already playing like late stage betas added the factor that Trion has an experienced team on board, This could certainly be the game that you stumbled upon and fell in love with (not literally).

Im certain that this game is as stated in a Eurogamer article " a sucker punch that no body saw coming". Trion are handling things just right in my eyes ( - the logo )

Also if anyone is looking for a pvp excentric mmmorpg ( F2P ) while waiting for Rift then feel free to try AikA Global ( Eu only ) at http://aika.t3fun.com/Home/Home.aspx ( im currently working as a ( small time ) GM over there )

Rift with an Oblivion point of view.

Hello again!

So today i was watching a video of a fire rift trailer...awesome indeed. But i noticed one major resemblance to a RPG called Oblivion the elder scrolls or elder scrolls of oblivion ( same thing diffrent way round durruh!).

Now if we look at the image below (oblivion) the whole atmosphere mainly the lighting sky and ground are very similar to the image above (Rift). You kind of had to of played Oblivion to understand where im coming from with this as the mobs that surround the oblivion gates are almost identical to those that surround the Rifts...wether thats just due to the fact that they are the stereotypical fire mobs such as imps or not..i just wanted to put it out there.

But overall the reason im so drawn to Rift is mainly due to the resmblence to Oblivion (in my eyes,p.s im not in glasses...yet), from the mob designs to the art style it all to me feels very Oblivion and i love that!

And i believe that due to the seemingly non fantasy art style Rift will appeal to the masses...im sure most of us do not like running round with armour on that can outshine most christmas trees. (see below for details)

Striking resemblence or what!

This is not my main post for today but more just a blah, blah! session as i impatiently wait for my food to cook! *burn sausages burn!!!*

pvp loot...what !?!

Hey,

im sure by now that if you listened to the riftpodcast you will have heard about the fact that loot can be dropped via PvP and the loot will differ depending on the class/race that you kill(intresting huh?).

Nice move is my initial thought...which was quickly dashed and stunned then repetadly stabbed until my hp quickly drained down a funnel as i repetadley screamed at my screen before face rolling on my keyboard and collecting a tissue to wipe my tears. Yes a slight over reaction by the creative side of my mind when trying to think of the negative that could happen with this system.

Firstly would the loot actually drop from me upon being killed ?, Such as this big shiny expensive or wondefully crafted masterpiece..*crashes can be heard*...*ressurect screen flashes up*....the daunting sight of my handsome naked fat dwarven belly flobbling around whilst i yet again cry, faceroll and wipe the excess tears with a second piece of tissue and reminice of my now lost armour.Or would it be random i.e if i get owned by my enemy nothing would be lost from me but a randomly generated drop that mysteriously appeared in my corpse which was never actually on my charater in the first place ? ( i wonder....*chin stroke* )

Secondly after the carebear inside of me subsided and turned into a chucky style crazed junkie...i started liking the idea of loot from PvP...visions of my fat slow dwarf owning the diligent little **** that recently tried prodding me with his knitting pins or daggers what ever they call them now.

But yeah if this loot system does not punish the player who is unfortunate enough to be lying face down in a pool full of pixels with legoless flooding your chat box with /lol emotes as you sit there cursing the seamless beautiful looking world you lay dead in...then hey im all for it!

I just hope the open world pvp sticks to the pvp servers :)

So overall with a few more details this is sure sounding like a nice feature to get myself into.

Aloha!
